Charities Housing Alum Rock Mural

Before the ground of the project site was event broken, Charities Housing reached out to Local Color to identify an artist to work with community members to create an impactful mural on a new Alum Rock affordable housing development.

Charities Housing and a community panel selected artist, Driftin, to create the mural. His design pays homage to Bea Mendez, founder of Next Door Solutions, and has nods to the neighborhood's rich culture, Amigos de Guadalupe who now resides in the building, and love to East San Jose. The cactuses throughout the mural resemble the community's resilience.
