Local Color Comes to Life at ROLL UP!

Curated activities include live painting, all-ages art activities, and nearly 40 community partners. Flyer by Brush House.

On Sunday, June 8, Local Color kicks off its celebration of a decade of achievements with ROLL UP! The collaboration between Local Color and Viva Calle SJ brings to life multiple pillars of the nonprofit's mission for a day of fun and creativity.

Building around the theme of National Best Friends Day, ROLL UP! will feature two pairs of artists collaborating on a live mural. Margaret Luo and Houyee Chow-Jimenez represent a hometown pairing of friends, and Patrick Hofmeister and Jose Hernandez come together to represent The Method Made Design Lab in San Francisco.

Participants can engage in five do-it-yourself art activities to learn how to make pinwheels, postcards, friendship bracelets, buttons, and handlebar streamers. They can also learn more about Local Color’s extended community by visiting nearly 40 artists and community partners tabling at the activity hub.

ROLL UP! is Local Color’s portion of Viva Calle SJ’s Lake Cunningham Activity Hub. Additionally, the hub will feature a selection of local food trucks, free minor bike repairs courtesy of Community Cycles, BMX freestyle shows at Action Sports Park, music from DJ Toonin, and more.

Local Color is excited to partner with San Jose’s Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services Department through Viva CalleSJ with support from the City of San José Office of Cultural Affairs 2025 Festivals, Parks, and Celebrations Grant.

Join the fun for free at Parking Lot A of Lake Cunningham Regional Park from 10am to 3pm.
