Abram Deslauriers
Abram Deslauriers is a Bay Area visual, sound, and performance artist. Deslauriers earned his MFA in Craft/Material Studies at Virginia Commonwealth University and studied at University of Washington as an undergrad in Interdisciplinary Visual Arts.
Deslauriers' artistic practice explores themes of identity, perception, and the pursuit of authentic self. His work often manifests as abstracted forms, complex linear networks, or rhythmic fields, inviting viewers to engage with the interplay between detail and the overall composition. These re-arrangeable and scalable works resist a final, fixed state. This approach reflects an appreciation for the nuanced and often ineffable nature of personhood, which exists within the rapid pace of hyper-connectivity.
Deslauriers brings a similar intention to non-profit art administration, believing that building meaningful connections with creatives through authenticity and empathy encourages artistic growth. Deslauriers often focuses on people operations and facilities, connecting artists to studio resources, materials, and professional opportunities.
