The Sharks Foundation is dedicated to enhancing the lives of underserved youth and families in the community with an emphasis in the areas of education, health and safety, and character development. In 2022 we received support for our Artist in Residence Studio Program with funds raised from the Ceramic Shark Benefit Auction in partnership with Zoom and the SJ Sharks. And in 2023, during the Women of Teal Warm Up Jersey Auction!

Our projects have been made possible in part with the support of the 2017 Knight Cities Challenge from the Knight Foundation as well as in 2020 when we received their support to continue empowering artists through our organization’s mission.

Local Color worked with PennPAC to design a Fund Development strategy in 2023, which included analyzing our new workshops program, evaluating our current strategies, and developing a 31-page handbook of best practices. The eight-week collaboration was a tremendous success and one of the best consultant experiences ever!

Local Color received critical support via the COVID-19 Nonprofit Resiliency and Sustainability Program for 2023-24 to assist the recovery and growth of the Artists in Residence workspace program.

Local Color is a proud 2023 recipient of the Adobe Foundation’s Hometown Commitment initiative designed to support nonprofit organizations in San José that share a commitment to solving critical local issues, revitalizing the community, and ensuring robust arts and cultural institutions.
