Gratitude

“This mural focuses on the Martial Cottle family contribution to the community…This mural is a symbol of what it really means to give back to your community, because not everyone gives away 287 acres of land.

You can sometimes see the moon set near Mt Umunhum depending on where you're at and as a tribute to that and the Ohlone land you will see a basket in the back ground that is surrounded by wheat stalks. In front of that, a hummingbird representing Mt Umunhum soars to the sky. You will see Walter's 1950 John Deere tractor which currently sits in a barn at Martial Cottle Park and beneath that a glyph representing Tenochtitlan. Finally at the very bottom of the mural, you will find peaches and plums to honor all of the immigrants who have worked and sacrificed so much for this farm land.” — Francisco Ramirez

Fertile Land

“An anatomical heart represents the “The valley of Hearts Delight,” which cradles a baby representing the land’s fertility. The heart then grows into an oak tree that is populated by the natural birdlife in the Coyote Ridge Valley and surrounding areas.” — Francisco Ramirez
